-it shows all the things he wants in a wife 3. Brady never uses the personal pronouns he or she to refer to the wife she defines. Why not?
-she doesn't use personal pronouns because she is giving her thoughts and opinions on what a good wife would be and how to make the husband happy. i think is giving a general opinion that most men would want for their wives.
4. Do you think Brady really wants the kind of wife she describes—does this ideal spouse
actually exist? Explain why you think Brady wrote this essay.
-no i don't think she really wants that kind of wife. i don't think the ideal spouse exists either. i think she wrote the essay to show the ideal fantasy wife. she tells us all the things that the husband could want the wife to do but probably is unrealistic.
5. How does Brady define what it means to be a “wife”? How does she organize the many services a wife provides her husband and family? What do you think of Brady’s characterization of a wife and her responsibilities? How do you think she wants her readers to respond to this characterization? Why?
-Brady defines a wife through all the things she needs to do with the children and the make him happy. she organizes them on his sexual needs, their social life, and the kids needs and responsiblities. i think that Brady's characterization of a wife and her responsibilities are very high and a lot to do. i think she wants readers to respond by seeing that a wife is a big job and that she can't do it alone because there are many responsiblities. i think it shows that the wifes roll is to large to carry.
6. Write a letter to Brady responding to “I Want a Wife.” Let her know what you admire or don’t admire about the essay and the extent to which you consider it effective and/or persuasive.
Dear Brady,
i admire all the things you wrote about that a women should posses to make a husband happy. to be honest most man would probably like a wife with many of these charcteristics. but this is a very large list and overwhelming. i think this is a very high standard for wives. i do think that women should have some of these skills and take on some of these responsiblities but i also believe the husband can help cook or clean or help with the children.
7. Write your own piece entitled “I Want a/an X.” You can use Brady’s essay as a model, and in the process, imitate some of her stylistic techniques. Or, alternatively, write an essay about the role of a “wife” in the early twenty-first century, explaining how a wife’s responsibilities complement and are complemented by those of a spouse.
i want a little brother.
i want a little brother so he can wake me up through out the night. one that will force me most times to get out of bed and help him. i want a little brother so i can help change all his dirty diapers or be the one that he throughs up on. i want him to cry in my arms as i try to rock him to sleep.
i want a little brother so i can play with him non stop during the day and be tackled to the floor. i want a little brother that screams and shouts. i want a little brother that has a temper tantrum so he kicks and hits. i want a little brother so that he can grab all my things and break them.
