1. The speaker identifies himself as being included in the social group of the upperclass. The type of persona Swift creates for the 'author' of this essay is that he is trying to sound like he came up with a solution that will end all poverty.
2. The speaker uses persuasion to make the reader think hat it is ok to eat children, and almost to think that it will later become a habit of life. he doesnt really want to kill all the kids but he is saying this because most kids end up poor and becoming theives just to survive.
3. You detect differences between the proposer and Swift himself because Swift it trying to state that people in Ireland shouldnt have that many kids if they are unable to raise them, and if they are going to just end up liek beggars on the street.
4. The audience of this work is focused towards the middle/upperclass of Ireland to buy the children, but also i think the poor so that they realize how society can deal with this issue, and really think about the problems of overpopulation amoungst the poor has done. he doesnt take a side he just thinks they need to do iniiate things on their own and deal with their problems instead of being lazy beggers. he identifies himself in the upperclass. all social classes are to blame.
5. yes, this is a satirical story. yes he comes up with proposals.
6. he lists benefits and advantages of is proposal, like Firstly, Secondly, Thirdly. he is doing it for the good of the country.
7. swifts piece was very successful and well written. i think it stregthens the story and has a big impact on the sotry.
8. the modest proposal is a Juvenalian satire, that shockingly reveals an often-overlooked dimension of British colonialism with regards to the Irish through savage ridicule and disdainful contempt
9. because this is not a modest solution. the solution is very extreme. this is verbal irony because its not want it sounds like.
